Happy 2nd Birthday Kaya! (9/22/2012)

Kaya's 2nd Birthday: September 22, 2012

I honestly can't believe how fast these past 2 years have gone by. I guess it's true that time flies when you're having fun :) I have just been so amazed at how completely different you are from your sister. All the milestones might have been happening at similar times, but it's little things that have taken me by surprise....the biggest one has been your absolute bravery and ability to throw caution to the wind to be daring and so carefree. This past year you have not only begun to walk, but run, jump, climb without any fear! KoKo was and is pretty cautious, so having all the little things you do is different and individual to you! The most recent thing was this summer you have been SO in love with being in the pool. You seem to think that you are already an Olympic swimmer and don't like to be held in the pool, but would rather jump in the opposite direction from me or Daddy to deliberately get away from our arms. You go under water either by mistake or with us and come up with huge smiles and laughter....
On another note... you are very attached to your blanky AND your pacifier (both of which you call "B"). We are really trying to get rid of the pacifier because we can tell a verbal explosion is on the horizon and is being muffled by your pacifier that hangs off your mouth as you attempt to talk, lol. So many words are already in your vocabulary.....Mommy/Daddy (of course), Shissy (sissy), DoDo (koko), Pop Pop, Shoes, Peeeeez (please), NO, Mammy (Grammy)...and you are learning your cousin's names amongst every other word we try to make you say :p
The funny thing is that the moment you turned two, the terrible 2's started! No kidding. You are very gung ho about getting your way and when you are told no you get VERY upset, pout and cry. You are very much a Daddy's girl and when he is gone at work you repeatedly say "Where Daddy?". 80% of the things you say have been that when Daddy is not around (no joke). It's quite cute, but Daddy isn't there to hear it, so I'll have to get a video for him to see :P You are still in quite a stranger anxiety phase and want to be held instead of walking along side of us. Actually wherever we go in the house you don't want to be left behind so you are constantly asking for "Ubbbby"!!

Despite any frisky attitudes you have, you are also the most snuggly little girl when you want to be. You have been sleeping in the same bed with your sister for the last month or so and it is pretty darn cute. KoKo has taken on the big sister role very nicely (most of the time haha). You are starting to copy a lot of the things she does and actually listen to her more than me and Daddy sometimes. You and I go to pick KoKo up 3x/week from school and it's really sweet to see you both when you see each other after she gets out of class. So many great moments this past year and I know it will all just get better as you guys grow up together. I can't wait to see what the next year brings and to be able to experience it all as your Mommy. I love you more than you could ever possibly know. Happy 2nd Birthday my little Kai Bear. For such a little girl, you have brought so much happiness into our lives and everyone we know.

KoKo My Very Own Stand Up Comedian :)

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥Hi Everyone! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Introducing my long overdue videos of KoKo being....well....KoKo.
I seriously think she is one of the most creative and imaginative little girls in the world. She keeps me entertained, cheers me up when I'm feeling down, takes care of me when I hurt myself and everything else a little Mommy would do. She is the best big sister and loves to play with Kaya, but she tends to be super shy around other people and kids. I know she will come around the more she gets used to it. She starts part time preschool in September at the same elementary school I went to!! (Moulton Elementary in Laguna Niguel). Funny how things really do come full circle.

Soooo...without further adieu, here is my amazing little girl, Kiyoko :)

And she always insists that I clap and say "BRAVO" when she's done :) lol

Lots of Hugs & Love,

Happy Half Birthday Kaya! 18 Months old!

Kaya 18 Months Old!

My sweet, sweet, Kai Bear! I can't believe how fast time flies when you have kids. I was always worried that having a second child that I wouldn't be able to love her as much as I love my first. That's SO not true. Love definitely multiplied with each child and not divided. You have brought so much love and excitement into our lives. I can't even imagine my life before you...

Your big sissy, KoKo, is so in love with you and I love seeing that beautiful sisterly bond grow more and more every day. You have taught the whole family more about love and the miracle of life. It's also amazing how different you are from your big sister...not just in looks. You are so daring, ready for excitement, love to laugh and are the best snuggle bear in the world! You are also super independent and like to sleep in your own room in your pack n play. We rarely have any problems putting you down for naps or nighttime.

It's so incredible to watch you find your place in this world. You are so curious about everything and I can see everything you are soaking up in life. You have become Kiyoko's best friend and I can only hope that relationship will grow in a positive way thru your entire lives. Having a sister is the best gift and a friend for life. I want you to know how much you mean to me and how much I love everything about you. I love to sit and stare at you...I love when you snuggle me in the morning and watch movies with me while drinking your bottle in my arms everyday. You still love your paci and blanky, but are doing great when we take it out during the day and love the jibber jabber that you speak. Of course I also love that the only word you really say is, "Mama" :))) You call everyone even call KoKo, Mama!
You are a special soul that transcends time. I am always trying to be the best mom for you and KoKo. I enjoy every minute with you both while I'm at home. I know there will come a day when you go off to school and everything will change. But for now, I am relishing in these moments of bonding, loving and getting to know who you are and can only imagine what you will become.

I promise to always be home for matter where you are later in life. You are my heart and my world. I will do anything for you. You are amazing. Thank you for gracing us with your beautiful presence this last 18 months.
Mommy loves you,

Today was a good day...

It was actually not just a good day, but a great week....
It's been hard to have a 17 month old and a 4 year old - trying to figure out activities that they both can do and learn from. One day we had a movie morning and watched our (I mean MY) favorite Disney movie, "Tangled" with popcorn and pears :)

I bought KoKo a bunch of art supplies from CVS and the Dollar Tree so she is one happy camper :)

Kaya's first time with her hair up in a pony tail! She didn't know what the heck was going on!

But you really can't beat this pic below....melts my heart <3

She's getting SO big...what happened to my baby?

The Three Amigas...I have the 2 best snugglers in the world!

I hope you guys all had a great week too!!
I finally get to celebrate Valentine's day with my hubby tomorrow night! My Mom is taking the girls overnight!!!! ;)))) We get to go see "The Vow". SO excited :)
Lots of hugs and Love,

Wanna see what else I'm up to?

Fun Times & Pictures!

Some days I just look at my kids and can't believe I made them (ok me and my husband. lol). I look at every part of them that is so perfect and imagine all the miraculous things that took place to create this beautiful being....and they're mine :) I always ask KoKo if she will always be my best friend and she always says Yes. Then I ask her, "Even when you're a teenager?" and she naively says Yes :p We've had some great times the last few weeks at the petting zoo and around the house :)

Kaya's favorite spot :)

This is what it looks like when KoKo dresses herself :P

Cozy couch outside :)

Swimming at Grammy's heated pool!

Taking Time....

I have a really hard time taking time for myself. Today was one of those days when I just felt like I neglected myself and the kids were a lot to handle. Days go by so quickly and I feel like I'm getting so behind which makes me stuck....not wanting or knowing where to start. I obviously have so much to be grateful for, but sometimes being a Mom and defining my role is really hard. I want to be my own person, be encouraged and supported in doing things I love most. I don't always give myself the time I deserve to do those things...crafts, writing, listening to music...etc...
I guess being on my period doesn't help lol!
Our new home that we moved into last December still has a lot of work to be done. It's not quite feeling like "home" yet. I can't believe how many toys 2 kids can have. There's just so much to do, but I wonder if I am stressing over nothing or stressing over the non-important things.
Venting...that's all :)

Happy 4th Birthday Kiyoko!!

My sweet, sweet, Kiyoko...aka: KoKo, KoKo Bean Soup Marie, Cookie, KoKo Moko, Snoober and so many more...
At 7:58pm on January 18th 2008 we were blessed with a love that I never knew existed. It was you...our first born child. You were so perfect. The labor was 16.5hrs, but the chance to reach down and pull the rest of you out from under your arms onto my belly was the most amazing memory I'll ever have of you. Your warm, soft body laid on me, skin to skin, and my hand rested on your cute little bunnies to keep you on my stomach. I remember the exact feeling of your little body resting on mine like it was yesterday. The doctors let me keep you on me for quite a while and it was in that moment that our bond started and has only grown stronger every day since then. You have become such a beautiful, loving and caring soul. I can rarely imagine my life before you. The love I have for you goes beyond the barriers that words can express. It's a love that only a Mother can feel for her child and I can only hope that one day you will get to hold your baby in your own arms to feel the same way.

4 years later and things seem to speed by so fast. I try to take each moment and cherish it. I love to listen to you talk and reason with me. You are so smart and witty. Now that you are a big sister I can't imagine a better sibling for our little Kaya. You are so helpful and caring; always watching out for her and making sure she's ok. I trust you with her even though you are only 4! You amaze me more and more every day.

We are trying to put you back in school, but you are pretty adamant about staying home with Mommy and Kaya :p Technically you will not start Kindergarden until you are 5, turning 6 (so about 2 more years!) Hopefully you will change your mind because I know you need to be around other kids your age (not just your cousins that you are obsessed with!) I know that you are going to turn into such an amazing Woman one day and I can only hope that we can remain connected on the level we have since you were born. You are my best friend, my cherished love and first born child. I love you more than you'll ever know. I wish for you to be anything you want to be and to conquer all the dreams you have in your life. I will back you up no matter what, I'll never judge you and will always love you unconditionally.

I love you baby girl!
Happy 4th Birthday!!!

This was a funny email I just got from my mom that I thought my kids would laugh at when they got old enough to read it :p

Growing up without a cell phone

If you are 36, or older, you might think this is hilarious!

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were. When they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every
 morning....Uphill... Barefoot...BOTH ways...yadda, yadda, yadda

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on my kids about how hard I had it was and how easy they've got it!

But now that I'm over the ripe old age of forty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today.  You've got it so easy!  I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia! And I hate to say it, but you kids today, you don't know how good you've got it!

1)  I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have the Internet.  If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!!

2) There was no email!!  We had to actually write somebody a letter - with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox, and it would take like a week to get there!  Stamps were 10 cents!

3) Child Protective Services didn't care if our parents beat
us.  As a matter of fact, the parents of all my friends also  had permission to kick our ass! Nowhere was safe!

4) There were no MP3's or Napsters or iTunes!  If you wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the record store and shoplift it yourself!

5) Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio, and the DJ would usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up!  There were no CD players!  We had tape decks in our car.  We'd play our favorite tape and "eject" it when finished, and then the tape would come undone rendering it useless.  Cause, hey, that's how we rolled, Baby!

6) We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting!  If you were on  the phone and somebody else called, they got a busy signal, that's  it!

7) There weren't any freakin' cell phones either. If you left the house, you just didn't make a damn call or receive one. You actually had to be out of touch with your "friends". OH MY GOSH!!!  Think of the horror... not being in touch with someone 24/7!!!  And then there's TEXTING.  Yeah, right.

 8)  And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was!  It could be your school, your parents, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, the collection agent... you just didn't know!!!  You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

9) We didn't have any fancy PlayStation or Xbox video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics!  Wehad the Atari 2600!  With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'Asteroids'.  Your screen guy was a little square!  You actually had to use your imagination!!!  And there were no multiple levels or screens,  it was just one screen.. Forever!  And you could never win.  The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died!  Just like LIFE!

10) You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing!  You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel!!!  NO REMOTES!!!  Oh, no, what's the world coming to?!?!

11) There was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning.  Do you hear what I'm saying? We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons.

12) And we didn't have microwaves.  If we wanted to heat  something up, we had to use the stove!  Imagine that!

13) And our parents told us to stay outside and play... all day long.  Oh, no, no electronics to soothe and comfort.
And if you came back inside... you were doing chores! And car seats - oh, please!  Mom threw you in the back seat and
you hung on.  If you were lucky, you got the "safety arm"
across the chest at the last moment if she had to stop suddenly, and if your head hit the dashboard, well that was your fault for calling "shot gun" in the first place!
You kids today have got it too easy. You guys wouldn't have  lasted five minutes back in 1970.
