Wow, another month has passed us by! Our little man isn't so little anymore! He is really filling out and looks like a mini Sumo Wrestler! It's amazing the physical differences between baby girls and baby boys. You can really see the testosterone effects in him, I swear! He has an unbelievable strength in his tiny hands and does everything with so much power. That includes whaling when he's mad and uncontrollable giggling when he is tickled. We finally got the all out chuckle and it's like music to my heart. We often have laugh offs because every time he laughs it sets off a chain of laughs with everyone else.
As far as Operation Tummy Trouble, lol, I definitely think he is on the mend and it really is just something he needs to work thru and grow out of. He sleeps pretty good....when he's in Daddy's arms that is. He is spoiled and gets to sleep with Daddy every night! I would like to work to transition him into his own place to sleep, but Daddy doesn't seem to be in that big of a hurry. I think he knows that this is a period of Maikah's life that doesn't last long and he's relishing every moment of it. Baby and Daddy already have a very close bond. Maikah lights up and projects his huge smile when Daddy walks into the room. The are proof that kindred spirits exist.
Sisters are adjusting to their new roles. I always said that when KoKo was an only child that she was meant to be a big sister. She had all those amazing qualities of one so she glided into that role effortlessly. Kaya, on the other hand, isn't quite ready to give up her baby of the family throne and she ain't ashamed to admit it! lol.
Both girls will be in school this fall so I hope Kaya can gain a little more confidence in herself and her own capabilities of being a great big sister. We just celebrated the 4th of July and it started out being a great day. We bought fireworks and were going to have our own display in our front street. The kids were having a great time riding their bikes around, eating hamburgers and playing with sparklers. Right before Ian was about to gather all our fireworks Kaya took a random stumble on the driveway and hit her head on the concrete :( She hit it at an angle that caused it to burst open leaving a gaping hole. She unfortunately had to go to the ER and get it fixed up. No stitches thank goodness, but scary non-the-less.
Other than that minor hiccup, we are having a great time just enjoying summer. Our home has great space for lots of fun to be had. We are looking forward to more fun stuff, camps and mini vacas. I hope you guys are having a great summer. Thanks so much for checking in!
Lots of love from the McKay Family :)
